So Much MEAT! @ Pampas Brazilian Steakhouse

The company I work for took us here after a team building event, so I can't really give you the price structure, and we were very well pampered.  The signature meat was the best I've had in a long time, however most of the chicken offerings were a little over cooked and dry, save for one, chicken wrapped in bacon!  Also the chicken hearts were also delicious, however are you might know they're more of a "appetizer" than anything as they're quite small.   Of course you could make a meal of them if you load up on them like my one co-worker who totaled around 15 of the buggers! :)  Then end of the meal was also a delight, with some nice grilled pineapple along with a chocolate tart topped with vanilla ice cream and a toffee side.  I would completely recommend this place to others who enjoy a Brazilian Steak House Experience.  Reservations recommended. Slow Cooker Pulled Pork / Ribs - SO GOOD!!!

A couple of weeks ago I went grocery shopping and because of some deals and a hankering for some BBQ, I brought home a few items which were perfect for making some pulled pork / ribs in a slow cooker. This is about 4lbs of pork ribs/shoulder some pieces with the "bone in" which is perfectly fine with me...

Soda Pop Review : Red Apple - Sprecher Gourmet Sodas

No Red Dye, and its Delicious! Brand : Sprecher Gourmet Sodas Flavor: Red Apple Cost: $1.69 per bottle (on average) **The bottles I used (pictured to the left) for this review were purchased at a local BevMo in San Jose, CA in the month of June 2015.(see below to why I make this declaration)** The Red Apple from Sprecher I had was more akin to a lightly carbonated Martinelli's Apple Juice.  There was no dye, or too sweet apple candy flavor, and little to no aftertaste, which I personally was hoping more for more of a lingering finish. When you first pop that cap on a bottle you certainly smell the soda.  I kept trying to place this smell, a mixture of apples and a spice of some sort, maybe clove, maybe mace, possibly even a hint of deep cinnamon, and on first taste was surprised to find none of those flavors, just a juicy mouthful of a red delicious or perhaps fuji apple flavor.  Once swallowed I waited for a lingering aftertaste which was surprisingly not pr...

Recipe : Sunday Gravy Or Sauce, The Italian Way!

So for whatever reason I decided to make "Gravy", as most Italians call it, or "Sunday Gravy", since it's typically made on Sundays in prep for the family coming over for dinner.  This is by no means a "end all be all" to this recipe.  In fact each family has its own quirks and traditions, which in a way I'm hoping this will be the start of my "traditional recipe".  Of course, I might make it completely different the next go around. (just a fyi you can click on all the images here to enlarge them) With that said, throughout most of the recipes the key components are plum tomatoes(crushed by hand), tomato paste, fresh basil, fresh parsley, dried oregano, plenty of garlic, a sofrito (onion, celery, carrot), and a few meats, typically for meatballs, braciole (jelly roll tasty meat snack), and/or italian sausage (mild or hot). In my recipe I included some of the interesting bits from a few of the recipes I researched.  For example I  ...

Soda Pop Review : Intro To Sprecher Gourmet Sodas

I recently found this brand of sodas at my nearest and dearest Italian Deli/Ravioli establishment,   La Villa, in Willow Glen, CA .  The brand of soda is Sprecher Gourmet Sodas and they run about 1.79 for 16oz of goodness.  They come in a variety of flavors and all hail from the great state of Wisconsin!  They're a full fledged brewery and brew beer there as well, you can take a tour, find then at various festivals and when I'm back in the Midwest I certainly plan on visiting their location. SPRECHER BREWING COMPANY 701 W. Glendale Avenue Glendale, Wisconsin 53209 CALL (414)964-BREW(2739) Now with that all aside I went to my local bottle/liquor company, Bevmo, and picked up a few of their gourmet sodas.  I've already had their, "I can't say any more good things about their delicious Cream Soda" which is now my default cream soda to drink, so I didn't pick up any (yet) plus the one Bevmo I did go to didn't have the Cream Soda or the Grape. ...

All You Can Eat MEATS!!! @ Fogo de Chão Brazilian

$56.00 per person! (for lunch, dinnertime is more!) What can I say except MEAT IS DELICIOUS!  So a bunch of us went to Fogo De Chao for lunch as they have an advertised $35 all you can eat special.  However the price escalated quickly when we were offered "water".  We should have suspected something amiss when asked if we wanted non-bubbly or bubbly, which meant we were paying $7.50 per bottle of "fancy" italian water.  On the final bill were 12 bottles as everyone but two of us had "water" and were thinking they were saving money by only drinking water.  But who knows maybe this is how we solve California's water problem! Despite the misunderstanding with the water, I can't recommend this chain of restaurants enough, having been to both San Jose, CA and Las Vegas, NV branches.  Yep its a chain!  A delicious meaty chain!  Essentially upon arriving you sit down and can visit a very posh salad bar (if yo...

#6 Roast Beef And Provolone Sandwich @ Jersey Mike's Subs

$12.00 + tax This place recently opened down the street from where I work, not far from an Ike's Sandwich's.  My initial impression is that I'd have to really give this place another try before I come to any firm conclusions, but with an Ike's so close Jersey Mike's will have to work extra hard! The sandwich I got was their #6 a Roast Beef And Provolone sandwich.  As  you can see not much roast beef and a ton of shredded lettuce.  I don't mind lettuce, but not as a main on a roast beef sandwich!  The only other qualms with this visit was that the sandwich was drenched in oil, i didn't sense any vinegar either, and the oil was not very flavorful either.  There is nothing worse than a dry sandwich, but this was almost too much oil.  The last item might have been my fault, in my asking for no tomato, they may have taken that to also include no sauces/dressings of any kind.  So while not "dry" there was no mayo, no mustard, ...
