I've always been interested in cooking, you can blame my chemical engineering background, and enjoy eating at restaurants, cooking at home for myself or friends, and  learning of the process from which items transform into the food we eat and love.

FAQ

What do the star ratings mean?
All of the places I visit I start out with a three star rating as a base line.  The five criteria I judge an establishment upon are (in no particular order):
  • Facilities - Does the establishment have a well maintained and clean location?
  • Atmosphere - Does the establishment provide a good impression and experience?
  • Service - Does the establishment provide good service by their staff?
  • Food - Does the establishment provide good quality food?
  • Price - Is the establishment reasonably priced?
Establishments that rate Zero Stars are not recommended at any level.

Establishments that rate One Stars are not recommended.  They've failed on multiple areas of which I judge an establishment.

Establishments that rate Two Stars are not recommended. They've failed on one of the areas of which I judge an establishment.

Establishments that rate Three Stars , the baseline, are well maintained, clean, have good food, are reasonably priced with good atmosphere and service. These establishments are recommended.

Establishments that rate Four Stars have exceeded on one of the areas of which I judge an establishment. These establishments are recommended.

Establishments that rate Five Stars have exceeded in multiple areas of which I judge an establishment and are highly recommended to friends, relatives and readers of Lunche Munche!

2am Chili - How To Make Chili "Like A Boss"

Over on the reddit  user tylercap  posted his recipe for Chili, "Like A Boss" that he likes to make at 2am between sessions of Black Ops.  However unlike the traditional listing of ingredients in a 3x5 index card format or video of the process tylercap decided to post pics along with some stick figures showing the process.  Also if you're unfamiliar with the meme "Like a Boss" check out the bottom of the post for the youtube clip from Andy Samberg of SNL and thelonlyisland . nsfw language and imagery for both chili and "like a boss" video after the jump.

POPUP SHOP - Modo Mochi Donut @ Mitsuwa Marketplace in San Jose

$20 for a dozen!!! (other food, and tax/tip not included) People have lost their damn minds once again in the "craze" of these Hawaiian Mochi Donuts!  We arrived after lunch at the Mitsuwa Marketplace in San Jose off Saratoga Ave.  The line was out the door! My friends got in line, I went in to scope out how long it would be.   I passed the automatic doors and saw the line twisted to and fro, back and forth, amongst various food stands and displays.  I inquired the length of time people were waiting, 2-3 hrs was the wait time.   OMG! No frick'n way!!!   No pastry was worth that wait!Luckily, my friend came in to see the line size and saw their sister in law and was able to snag a few to share with us! Thanks CHAN!  The max you could get for one person was a dozen for $20.    Now don't get me wrong, the donuts were very tasty and had that slight chewiness of fresh pastries combined with mochi, but they weren't mind blowing crazy go
