Video - Fastest/Best Way To DeSeed A Pomegranate

Youtube user  NaturalMarketer  has a video of one of the fastest and best ways to deseed pomegranate I've seen yet.  The basic process utilizes simply a knife, a wooden spoon, and a empty bowl in which to place your delicious red jewels into. Check out the video below and try out the technique for yourself.  If you know of a better way shoot me an email and I'll be sure to post it on this post! Video - How To Make Chocolate Ganache!

I recently posted a recipe of a desert that I created to take to my work ST Patrick's Day potluck.  The minty rich chocolate cakes were a big hit, and many enjoyed the chocolate and mint combination. The bite sized cakes tasted just like a Thin Mint cookie, ala of Girl Scout notoriety! When I mentioned, to a few curious inquires of how I constructed the edibles. I explained  how it was just a box cake mix and some ganache for the topping, they were a bit puzzled and wanted to know exactly what ganache was made of. I did my best to explain,, cream and chocolate, but they wanted to know the process. So a video was great idea.  Lucky for me when I created the recipe I just happened to also record a video of the ganache process. So here is the video of the process, now after watching go and make your own, its delicious and versatile!  I dare you to keep it in your fridge for longer than a week, my guess is it won't last more than a night! Hehe! Hope you enjoyed this po

(fail) WATCH LIVE! : The Hellfire Challenge - 12 Dangerously Delicious Wing

UPDATE: Smoke Eaters refused to allow the challenge because they were "too busy" also they said they didn't do it on Tues and Thurs.  Oh and When its Sunny, or at Night, and if there is a chance for Rain!  BAH! What a lame excuse.  We had about 20 people there and clearly we were half of the customers easily, so "too busy" is a lame excuse, not to mention they don't do it on Tues or Thurs! I got a burger and it was average at best.  I don't think we'll be going back to Smoke Eaters anytime soon, except explicitly for the challenge, and then I'm not going to order anything but a soda!  Very Disappointed! -david c. -------------------------------------- Two of my co-workers, Akshay and Justin, decided to take the Smoke Eaters "Hellfire Challenge!" According to the Smoke Eaters website http://smoke-eaters.com/ WE DARE YOU You think you like it hot, do ya? The Smoke Eaters Hellfire Challenge has humbled even the bravest hot wing

Recipe : Shamrock Snacks!

For this St. Patricks Day Holiday party at work it was potluck so I decided to bring in some "Shamrock Snacks".  More or less they're just chocolate cake with some minty ganache topping.  Check out the pics and recipe below. "Shamrock Snacks" 1 Box of Chocolate Cake Mix 1 Pint of Heavy Cream (2 Cups) 4 3.5 oz Dark Chocolate Bars 15 Andes Mints Fresh Mint Putting this recipe together is pretty easy, follow the cake box instructions and bake your cake.  While the cake it baking, in a small sauce pan, put the heavy cream and mint leaves and let them steep at a simmer.  When the cake is cooling, break up the chocolate bars and andes mints into a glass bowl and strain the cream concoction over them, let the whole thing sit for 5 min. After the 5 min soak in cream,  insert a whisk and start stiring from the center out, in about 6-7 min the center will go dark and then you'll have ganache! While still runny, pour the ganache over the cake (you can c

CHOW Tips - Poach An Egg In Plastic Wrap?!

The folks over at chow.com have put up a video on their youtube channel about how to sous vide an egg in some plastic wrap.  What you get is a perfectly poached egg.  The best thing about this method is that there is no skimming of egg whites from the simmering water. You can also prepare the eggs with flavored oils, and other ingredients for customized poached eggs .  Lastly, you can poach the eggs and then preserve them for use later by putting them into a ice water bath to stop them from cooking.  Then when you need a poached egg, pull one out and unwrap. Enjoy.  Perfect! Hope you enjoyed this post and thanks for stopping by!

CHOW Tips - Pasta, In A Fry Pan!?!

The folks over at CHOW created a great video on how you can dump the traditional gallon of water and stock pot for a frying pan and a quart, quart and a half of COLD water and save a bunch of time.  The video below shows you all the in and outs of the process, so be sure to check it out, and don't forget to subscribe to their you tube channel.  Also as a bonus you'll be left with a starchy liquid you can quickly turn into a tasty pan sauce! Video Tip: Make a Broiler Map

Here is a video tip from the popular cooking show America's Test Kitchen  where you take a number of bread slices, place them on a half sheet pan, and then place them 4 in away from your broiler.  You  do this so you can "map" the hot spots of your broiler as most ovens don't necessarily heat evenly. It's a great tip, and once you know where your hot spots are you can either avoid them or use them to your advantage! America's Test Kitchen is one of my favorite cooking shows that I continually go back to watch over and over, as they have practical and useful information, unlike some of those food shows that are shown on a "network dedicated" to food.  *hint hint nudge nudge* Hope you enjoyed this post and thanks for stopping by!
