Burger, Fries, And A Cup Of Chowda! @ Montery Bay Aquarium

to only have about 1/4 of it left on my burger.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I hadn't been in about 10 years.  Of course the building hasn't changed much, and a few of the exhibits have been changed around but its pretty much the same ole same ole from 10 years ago, which is still pretty amazing!  I was able to hang out all day from lunch until closing, so about 6 hours.  I originally wanted to attend on a weekend for the late hours but even on a weekday it was pretty busy, it being the last week in August right before school started.  I gather the crowds might be the last jaunt for families and their kids before going back to school.


Rather than get a late start taking photos by eating outside the Aquarium we decided to eat at the cafĂ© within the Aquarium.  Other than having to stand about 15min in line the food wasn't too bad and somewhat seasonally priced.  Of course I had to have the clam chowder (spelled and said chowda ;) ) as its one of my favorite things since childhood.  It was good but not as good as I'd hoped.  I'd say one or two notches above a "canned" variety, a touch too thick to be good chowder. Also that mayo glob was place there by my over zealous condiment pumper friend who I think is trying to kill me for my camera gear, I scraped off all but 1/4 of it with my knife.  Hehe.

POPUP SHOP - Modo Mochi Donut @ Mitsuwa Marketplace in San Jose

$20 for a dozen!!! (other food, and tax/tip not included)
People have lost their damn minds once again in the "craze" of these Hawaiian Mochi Donuts!  We arrived after lunch at the Mitsuwa Marketplace in San Jose off Saratoga Ave.  The line was out the door! My friends got in line, I went in to scope out how long it would be.   I passed the automatic doors and saw the line twisted to and fro, back and forth, amongst various food stands and displays.  I inquired the length of time people were waiting, 2-3 hrs was the wait time.  
OMG! No frick'n way!!!  
No pastry was worth that wait!Luckily, my friend came in to see the line size and saw their sister in law and was able to snag a few to share with us! Thanks CHAN!  The max you could get for one person was a dozen for $20.   
Now don't get me wrong, the donuts were very tasty and had that slight chewiness of fresh pastries combined with mochi, but they weren't mind blowing crazy good.  The best donut was the one l…
